Art journal page, in progress

Hey there bloggers Rita Barakat here! Today I am sharing another page from my Art Journal.
They always look kinda weird before you get color on the page - but I am learning to just go with it. Just like anything worth doing, the more you do it the more comfortable get with it- so if you haven't started an art journal and have always wanted to, just go for it!  There are no rules and it's a good way to try out new techniques.
First I made I sketch.
(OK not really - first I added Gesso because my book is made out of handmade paper!)

A color tutorial with Gelatos™

Here there bloggers!
I don't know why but I can never seem find the right color flower to go in my hair! (and the right clip - so it doesn't fall out, but I digress...)
Well I found these white flowers at Forever 21, they were the perfect size and had the right type of clip! And I think to my self...  Why couldn't I color these with my Gelatos™? Hmmm...
So I pulled out Red Cherry, Mango, Lime, Cotton Candy & Metallic Melon.

An Everyday Pocket Book

Hi everyone, Mou Saha here with my everyday pocketbook.

It's the simplest book that takes very little time, effort and cost to make at home. I cut six pieces of 8.5"x11" cardstock in half, folded it, and stitched it right down the center to make a book that measures 5.5"x4.25".

Dream Transmitter (Guest Design Team)

I've been thinking about dream catchers lately. What they are for, what they mean, and also thinking of how they might work in a different way.

I've been wondering what happens if, instead of CATCHING dreams you made something that sent dreams OUT. Sort of a dream transmitter.

Even if you aren't into the whole idea of transmitting a dream it still turned out to be a pretty cool looking piece of mixed media art.

So what follows is my tutorial for making a Dream Transmitter. Or a hanging mixed media piece. ;)

Aquarelles, Inks and Dry Embossing (Guest Design Team)

Hi it is Cathy here again, I am so excited as today I want to share a video with you showing how to dry emboss a stamped image without the need for a light box! Whilst creating this project I discovered that the Aquarelle pencils work really well on pearl coated  card stock; when water is added the colours move around easily making blending a sinch!

This card has been created using Mixed Media Aquarelles and Ink sets.

I love how easy the Aquarelle and Ink sets make it to create a card with colours that tone well together and  it is an added bonus being able to colour my seam binding to match my flowers with the Stampers Big Brush pen to get a totally co-ordinated look.

Back-To-School Mixed Media Pencils (Guest Design Team)

Erin Bassett - Faber-Castell - Pencils

Hey everyone, it's Erin here again.

With it being back-to-school time already I got to thinking about how much I love a good, standard, old-school  pencil! And I like them even more when they look cool, so I embellished mine!

I just took a couple of sheets of book paper (sorry librarians!), and I randomly painted it up using Gelatos™ Colors and PITT® Artist Pens.

Art Journaling on the Road, continued

Hi everyone, Mou here with a second round of pages from recent art journal that I started on the road. The great thing about working on this journal while on the road is it's true-to-the-moment authenticity... I'm copying from nature, capturing a snapshot of something unusual right before my eyes... there's something very raw about it! No manipulation of camera settings, no photoshop editing, just a study of what I don't see in my everyday surroundings. No pretty papers, no fancy embellishments, just a little bit of white space for me to claim anyway I can. Even more authentic because I have proof that I was there that day... that National Park stamp that people use on their National Park passports... I used them to stamp my journal.
