Watercolor effect with Gelatos

Hello Gelatos friends!

Emmy here with a new tutorial to share. This time I though of exploring all the options to add watercolor effect to my layout using gesso, gelatos and water, of course. So far I worked on paper, canvas, chipboard and plastic. And here is the result:

And here is how I did it:

I place my picture on the background paper and market the place it is going to be with a pencil. Then I removed the picture and started adding different colors using Gelatos with water.

While my background was drying I die cut different shapes from a plastic sheet. I covered them with Gesso.

After they were dry, I colored them with Gelatos to match the colors of my design.

After the background paper was dry, I added the butterfly patten using a masking template and Gesso

... and paint splashes {dissolve a little bit of Gelatos in water and use your brush to create the splashed} and pearls to make it fairy like.

I covered the chipboard with Gesso first, to mask the raw color, and then I added blue Gelato color to it.

For the resist canvas I used water and Gelatos - the different colors blend easily together, which allowed me create the perfect color combination for my layout.

I hope I managed to inspire you today!

Have a messy colourful week!

I love how after you put color down-you came back with the butterflies in gesso. They really add so much! Love that idea. Will definitely try it.

Love any reason to bust out the gelatos and play. And really like that you get such a range in the depth of color, you can go as soft and washed as you want to deep, and vibrant. Such an amazing medium to create with.
