Introducing Our New Guest Designers
Weather Girl Mixed Media Canvas

13 Queen {A Technique Video Post, Using Faber-Castell Glaze and Gelatos}

13 Queen, Full, ALLassiter
Hello! I am Amy Lynne Lassiter, and I am thrilled to be sharing my first post as a guest designer! I am a huge fan of Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft, and I am always very inspired by these products that can help me create a wonderful piece of mixed media art!

Today I am sharing a layout I made, using a technique that creates a fabulous background. I am stamping with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Glaze, coloring over the top with Gelatos, and wetting with a paintbrush, to get a wonderful old-world (or other worldly, depending on how you see it) appearance. Have a look at a short video I made of the process:

I am so pleased with how this layout turned out, thanks to lots of Gelato color (Metallic Blueberry, Snow Cone, Bubble Gum, Chocolate, and Metallic Silver) and texture. I began with a 12x12 paper from 7 Dots Studio's Messy Head collection, and decided I would put my photo subject in the bottom create a fantasy-style background that was very visible. The stamp I used (as you can see in the video) was the Cracked Background stamp from Viva Las VegaStamps . The glaze clung perfectly to it, and gave me just the look  I was after.  Background, cracked, 13Q, ALLassiter

Just mixing the "bubble gum" colored pink Gelato with a drop of water, and splattering across the page, created a pop of bright happy such an easy way.

Creating a unique setting for this happy photo of my 13 year old daughter was easy and fun, and delivered a big bang with a need for very few mediums. Even the chipboard stars are colored with a metallic silver Gelato.

In the end, my daughter was thrilled to be crowned a queen (or princess), and I am pleased as punch at the fun and fantasy look of this layout!

I hope I gave you a little bit of inspiration today, and I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming months! Feel free to visit me at my blog, the home of the gnomes, I'd love to have you stop by:

AmyAmy Lynne Lassiter I am a mom to 3 lovely daughters, the wife to my best friend from college, a singer and librarian. I dream of living in Hawaii some day very soon, but for now, I make my home in northeast Kansas. I grab every spare second I can to create art...using as much mixed media as I can on scrapbook pages, altered items, art journal pages and more; expressing my heart, emotion, and soul on each project. As well as having the honor of being a guest designer for Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft, I also design for Gauche Alchemy, UmWowStudio, Viva Las VegaStamps, Genuinely Jane Studios, and Paper Issues.
