Summer Sun collaboration with Penny Black: Todays project by Rita

As the summer sun begins to rise and the temps heat up, what better way to beat the heat than crafting! Join us all this week for a special collaboration with Penny Black. We're sharing fun projects here on our blog using Penny Black stamps AND you'll find projects from the Penny Black designers on their blog featuring our Paper Crafter Crayons™ and Double Scoop®  Gelatos® . We want you to join in the fun, too, so don't miss the giveaway details at the end of this post.

June 2014 032100

Hey there creatives Rita Barakat ! I was so super excited for this blog hop I got carried away and got to work using the Promenade stencil from Penny Black! Before I knew it I was finished and I forgot that I was supposed to use the Paper Crafter Crayons™ so I did a second project below!

I used pink Gelatos® Double Scoops® mixed with water and stamped it with a Penny Black chalkboard birthday stamp. I traced the shape, added about a half an inch onto a DCWV cork sheet.

I melted several Paper Crafter Crayons™ and covered the edges of cork with it.  It dries pretty quickly, then you can put your card together.

I added burlap and a little gesso on the edges too.

June 2014 035100

Here is a close up of the Paper Crafter Crayons™. I know what you're thinking, "Can't I do this with regular crayons?" Well technically you can but what you can't see in pictures is how this hardens when it dries. It is not oily and there is no residue like you would get with crayons. The surface is slick, textured and solid! It won't rub off. People will say how did you do that?  Or they will think you bought it that way! Pretty fun stuff!

And don't miss this fun giveaway...

Both the journal page and the card are super. I am so amazed at the many uses for the crayons and the look created when they are melted. I appreciate these blog hop collaborations because they help to inform about new products (or those unfamiliar to me) and help me keep on my creative toes! :) Thanks to both Penny Black and Faber-Castell for a great blog hop!
