Think with your hands

...where did the time go? Is it possible that these three months passed by already?
I can't believe it!!

Here I am again, Zoey , your Italian friend that you love so much (LOL).
Today I want to show you a home decor (or altered project?) that I made using of course my so beloved Gelatos®.

I started off by covering a styrofoam hand with Gel Medium and Tissue Paper.

Gelatos® Double Scoops® storage with Rita

Aug 2014 012100 Hey there artsy peeps Rita Barakat here! I get lots of ideas and sometimes they are crazy and don't work, but sometimes they do! I got these fun frames from Deflecto (you can find them in most stores) and I thought what am I going to do with this?  Then I looked at my messy desk and thought what if I used it for myGelatos® Double Scoops®? They are great for big projects but they are a too big to store in my craft caddy and I really didn't have a place to store them where I could keep them in reach. So I thought this would be a great solution! AUGUST 2014 025100 The frame itself already has a black border, but you know I couldn't leave it like that so I grabbed a stencil (The Crafters Workshop) and some Whipped Spackle to add some texture. Did you know it would stick to acrylic/plastic? Me either, but now we do! When it was completely dry I added color right on top with various Gelatos® Double Scoops®. (tip ~color lightly) AUGUST 2014 027100 I used small round Velcro circles to attach them to the frame (in color families of course). Aug 2014 011100 Here they are lined up and ready to be used! It makes me happy just looking at those colors! How do you store your Gelatos?

Thanks for stopping by,

Easy Mixed Media Decor With Lisa

Hi everyone! Lisa with you this crafty Wednesday to share a little Mixed Media piece I made.

When I was making this I wanted to just use stuff from my stash, things I hadn't used, and create in a netutral color palette. Try to keep it fairly simple, but just go where the art lead me. Y'know?

1. Starting with the scrap of MDF (medium-density fibreboard) - which was already cut to 4 x 6" - I coated it with a thin layer of Gesso. Then apply pieces of patterned tissue paper using Gel Medium to adhere the tissure to the board. And apply another coat of Gel Medium on top. Allow to dry.

2. Once dried tear the overhanging pieces of tissue off.

3. Create custom colored Glaze by cutting off a chunk of Gelato® Double Scoop® in Gold Champagne and mixing it with Glaze. Mix with palette knife from tool set.

4. Apply Custom Glaze with brayer for even coverage (or whatever YOU prefer).  Then utilize the palette knife to lightly "draw" vertical and horizontal lines into the Glaze while still wet to create texture. Allow to dry.

5.  Add melted Paper Crafter Crayons™ in Neutrals, Oranges, and a pop of Red.

6.  Pull out your stash of embellishments and add them wherever you find it pleasing to the eye. Create your quote using letter stickers (covering with Gel Medium) and add additional color from the Paper Crafter Crayons™ where needed. And that's IT!

Easy-peasy. :)

Thanks for joing me today!

Lisa Sig

A simple art journal page by Mou

Hi everyone, Mou here with a simple art journal page for you.

To make this journal spread, I used:

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Textural Accents: Gesso, Whipped Spackle

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos Mist Maker set

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Gelatos® colors: Black Cherry, Blueberry, Cotton Candy

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Stamper's Big Brush pen: Magenta

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Essential PITT Artist pen: Black

Others: old book, paint brush, diecut stencil

And now, the steps to make the page:

Coat the pages with Gesso.

Apply Whipped Spackle with palette knife through diecut stencil. Let dry.

Rub Gelatos® at the top of the page, mist with water and let the colors drip down. Repeat on the left page.

Outline the stenciled words with black pen.

Write some more with Stamper's Big Brush pen on the left page to finish.

Hope you enjoyed today's tutorial and work in your own art journal. And I'd love to see what you are creating. Please leave links to your art journal pages in the comments section :)

Texture Art with Jen

P1020392It is no secret that I love texture AND color!  I can't get enough of bright, gorgeous color and patterns and textures.  This project has both in large doses!   I started this project while I was at the Faber-Castell headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio!  I had it sitting on my desk just waiting for the final finishing touches to make it complete.  Finally, I gave it more texture and some fun embellishments and I'm thrilled with the result!

P1020399I used my favorite colored Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Double Scoop Gelatos® in Snow Cone, Mango, Lemon, Metallic Mint, and Margarita!

P1020396I added Whipped Spackle through a stencil and also splattered and stamped with bubble wrap using some Chalkboard Paint.

P1020394This gorgeous butterfly is from UmWowStudios and used WOW Embossing powder on it!  I layered more chipboard to create a fun finishing touch.

P1020397More bubble wrap stamped in some Whipped Spackle after being put through a stencil.  I just adore bubble wrap as a texture tool.  The edge of the wood plaque was painted with Chalkboard Paint.  I love the contrast between the colors and the black edge.

I love when I finally finish a project that I start months ago's very satisfying and deserves a celebration!

Thanks for letting me share this piece of art!
