'Joy' Tag...

DSC02297
Hi Everyone!  Krista here again to show you how I created this keepsake tag.  I'm thinking of putting it on the cover of an art journal, but it can be added to the outside of a package, used as a card or simply put on a mini easel to set out on display...Ok lets get started, here are some step by step instructions on how to make one yourself!

I applied some Gesso with a piece of cardboard to a manilla tag, I didn't worry too much about perfect coverage as I wanted to create texture.  Then I very randomly scribbled some Gelatos® in Coconut and Chocolate, added a spritz of water and blended it all over with my fingers.  I wiped off the excess and it created a wonderfully textured and interesting background!

PicMonkey Collage 1I took a script stamp and applied some ink with a Stampers Big Brush Pen (india ink) and stamped over the entire tag.  I LOVE working with the india ink pens as they are always permanent and very lightfast!  I always use them to create shading around the edges of a subject and the edges.  I took a dry tissue and softened up the lines by removing some of the ink.  Then I added some Whipped Spackle and a stencil to add a bit more texture.

PicMonkey Collage 2I tore off the bottom of the tag and used an Art Grip® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencil from the Neutral pack  with some water and added some color to the torn edge.  I then applied some Green Tea Gelatos® Double Scoop® to my craft mat, added some water and saturated some natural twine and a canvas tag which will be the stem and leaf of the flower.

PicMonkey Collage 3I took some cheesecloth and soaked it in a puddle of Blueberry Gelatos®Double Scoop®.  This will be the flower.  I used the Gel Medium and adhered the flower, stem and leaf to the tag.  I used some scrap pieces of cheesecloth and stuck them randomly to the tag with Gel Medium as well. I added some Raspberry Double Scoop Gelatos® to the background so the texture of the cheesecloth would stand out.  I added a decorative brad to the centre of my flower.  I applied some Black Licorice Gelatos® Double Scoop® on my craft mat with water and coloured the letters to spell out JOY.

I took some Pitt Artist Pens and shaded around the edges of the tag and the flower.  Then I wanted to add some shimmer and sparkle so I added a generous amount of the Glass Bead Glitter Gel to the purple textured area, the leaf, stem and the flower.  I wrapped some twine around the word JOY and added more shading with the PITT®Artist Pens.PicMonkey Collage 5
