Be Happy | A Scrapbooking Tutorial by Irit Landgraf
Hi! I am beyond excited to share with you my first project as a guest designer on the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® blog.
I am a 12*12 scrapbooker at heart, so today I'll show some of my favorite ways to use Gelatos®, Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils and Stamper’s Big Brush Pens. Let's get started!
I prepped my paper with a thin layer of gesso because I knew I wanted to use Gelatos® and lots of water, and I find the color flows better when my surface is primed. I had to go with one of my favorite color schemes lately, purples and aquas. You can find a list of all the products I used at the end of this post.
This is how it looks before adding water.
And this is after. Watercolor perfection!
Next step is one of my favorite techniques, using a baby wipe and a stencil to remove color.
Bring on the stamping! I love using Stamper’s Big Brush Pens on my mixed media projects, because they contain India ink and will not move once dry even when I add water or other media on top.
For my title I also wanted to use a stamp. I love using Gelatos® for that, I apply them directly to the stamp and mist it with water before stamping. I actually do exactly the same thing with the Stamper's Big Brush Pens, it creates a watercolor look, but still preserves the qualities of india ink, permanent once dry.
I wanted to color my stamped images, so I grabbed some Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils in matching colors. I love the light airy look I can get with watercolor, and I was going for a messy look, so I used the pencils very lightly. They are full of pigment and just perfect for coloring in images.
The final touch was some Glass Bead Glitter Gel. I added some around the photo with my fingers. I used Snow Cone Gelatos® to tint the gel, so it matched my background perfectly.
And here's my finished layout with some close ups-
There's also a process video-
