Stylin' and Profilin' Art Journal Page

FC Style 1 New

Playing in my journal brings me joy and I am thrilled to continue to share that happiness with you.  Here is my latest page in my Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Mixed Media Journal.  Isn't she sweet?  I love how she turned out. Here's how you can make her too.

FC Style 9

I used Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gel Medium to do a text transfer onto the background.  Cover background with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® Gesso. Dry. Cover one side of book paper with gel medium and adhere to page.  Be sure to smooth with a bone folder  to be sure fully adhered and transfer success.  Let dry or dry a little.  Gently pull up paper.  If this is not working add water to a sponge and rub on top.  Rub with finger to remove paper and reveal transfer, rubbing too hard will pull up all of paper.  This gets messy but your text will be transferred in the end. I had a few rough spots but love the character it gives to my art.

I admire the way you incorporated the printed background and colorful subject. The subtle shades just add to the over-all softness of the finished project. Thanks for demonstrating how to use these products. Now that I can see how relatively easy it is to blend the different mediums I just might have to make a few purchases. Your tutorial has encouraged me to step out-side of my comfort zone and try something new. Thanx for the inspiration!

This is gorgeous!!!! I have done that transfer method before, but with a photo copy picture of my kids on a flat canvas. I didn't know you could just do it on a gessoed paper surface. Another trick you taught me :) And I am with Tamiko on the 'shaving gelatos'... eeeeek. Hanging around you guys, I am slowly learning to 'let it go', so I will get there. Beautiful face!
