Hello! My name is Maya Isaksson and I'm very happy to share this first project as a guest at the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft® blog! I fell in love with the bright and happy colors of the Gelatos® in the Bali set, because of the Mix and Match system the work of picking out colors that matches is already done.
I started by mixing my own shimmery paint by mushing a bit of Pistachio Gelatos® and blending it with some Silver Texture Luxe™ and water in a jar and then painting it all over some watercolor paper. Between each step I dried the paper using a heat tool.
I painted the top of the paper with each of the color of Gelatos® (Passion Fruit, Limoncello and Pistachio) and spritzed some water on it. I tilted the paper a bit to make the color run and dried with a heat tool between each color.
The next step was to add some splatters of color. I dipped a stipple brush in clean water and added the Gelatos® straight into the brush by rubbing it to the tip of the color. Then I used my finger to splatter paint all over the background with the brush. I did this with each of the color of Gelatos® and dried the piece between every layer.
I also stamped around the edges using a stamp and the black Stamper’s Big Brush Pen. It contains India Ink that doesn't fade and that is permanent when dried. I wasn't sure if I wanted to add any more water so a permanent ink is perfect to prevent any bleeding and smudging.
I decided to make cards with my background and made decorations by diecutting shapes from black cardstock, adding some Gelatos® and covering it all with Texture Gems ™. It gave the diecuts a raised shiny finish and it just looks amazing against the colorful background. I assembled my cards and was very happy with the results! I just love playing with colors and making pretty backgrounds and the Mix & Match system takes the guesswork out of it.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you got inspired!
