Linnie Blooms Blog Hop with Rita Barakat

Hey Creatives Rita Barakat here! Thanks for stopping today I am excited to sharing my project on this blog hop with Linnie Blooms!  To enter in our giveaway, make sure to stop by each day and leave a comment. One winner will receive $50 in Design Memory Craft products. The giveaway will end on 9/27. Good luck!

In addition to Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft products I used several Linnie Blooms Mixed Stitched Media Products: Canvas Flag, Sunflowers, Petal Flowers, banner and Leaves in two sizes.

RBarakat1 When starting a project I always start with a little Gesso (especially for fabrics) - it makes it a lot easier to get fine details on the canvas. The Gesso stops the colors from bleeding and provides even coverage.

RBarakat2 RBarakat5
I did not use Gesso on the other areas like flowers, banners, leaves and the background; I did not mind bleeding on those areas. I used various  Gelatos® Colors with water to color and layered the pieces to create this sweet banner. I used Texture Gems ™ for the words, (Tip * make sure you surface is dry before adding Texture Gems ™)

RBarakat4 Here is a close up of one the sunflowers colored with Gelatos® Colors and those polka dots were made with Gesso.

RBarakat3 And of course you can always add paper onto your project with a little Gel Medium!

Well I hope you enjoyed my project! Don't forget to be entered into our giveaway, make sure to stop by each day and leave a comment. One winner will receive $50 in Design Memory Craft products. The giveaway will end on 9/27.

I don't think I've ever received a newsletter with a project that caught my eye so suddenly like this one! The colors are gorgeous! I've never used Gelatos on fabric before and can't wait to try! Thank you for the tip on prepping the canvas with gesso: I wouldn'r have thought of that. I have some canvas covered journals that would be oerfect fir this technique. Thank you for posting this colorful project—I can tell you put a lot of thought and time into it.

snazzy jj

Never would have thought to use gelatos on fabric. I've got some Linnie Bloom shapes, can't wait to try it.
