Hi, Artsy Friends! I'm so excited to decorate for the holidays! I found these little house shaped boxes at a big store and knew that I wanted to create some snowy holiday decor with them. I could use them for gift boxes but I think they are so cute that they could be displayed and then given away! These paper mache boxes are so easy to stamp on and decorate with mediums. Let me show you how!
I started with taking the roof off and stamping the sides of the boxes with a text and a sheet music stamp using Stamper's Big Brush Pen in Cool Grey and Black. Just make sure to support the inside of the wall with your hand to get a good stamped image. I do love a distressed look though!
Next, it's time to break out the mediums! I used Texture Luxe in Pearl through one of the Mixed Media Stencils on each wall. I didn't cover the entire wall, just part of it and left lots of texture with the palette knife in the spreading of the Texture Luxe.
While I was waiting for the Texture Luxe to dry (it takes a bit longer the thicker you apply it), I painted the roof with Texture Luxe in Silver and another in Gold. Just using a paint brush, I applied the Texture Luxe evenly over the entire roof.
Once dry, I heavily added Glass Bead Glitter Gel to the roof for a shimmery, snowy look! I love that it looks icy and snowy at the same time. The heavier you apply it the less transparent it dries. It looks perfectly snowy!
Some watered down Texture Luxe was applied with a brush to allow drippage down the sides of the house.
To create the icicles, I used the Texture Gems™ Ice. Even the name says it all for this detail!
These were so fun to make and had lots of texture on them from the mediums. I may give these away with goodies in them but for now they are adorning my dining table along with some baubles to make it festive!
