Silver & Gold: A Wintry Scene

Diana Trout here today with a Wintry Scene canvas. Winter has a subtle beauty and today's project reflects that metallic shimmer and shine from snowy days.

The materials I used for today's project are

Glass Bead Glitter Gel
Texture Luxe in Silver and Gold
Silver Texture Gems
Gel Medium
Stencil 101, Dots &  Geode
Ice Layers Geode

Metallic Mint
Metallic Blueberry
Iced Pear
Silver Ice
Metallic Icing

Canvas Panel

Start by mixing gesso and Silver Texture Gems (or Texture Luxe) directly on your canvas and brushing out. You don't need to thoroughly mix them and I left a little texture.

While the base dries, cut the Geode Ice Resin stencil into triangular shapes. I trimmed the largest triangle from the center of the stencil and then trimmed smaller triangles from either side. I glued them to the dried canvas using Gel Medium. Start piling on the Gelatos now!

I used a variety of greens Gelatos to give some dimension to the trees. Go right over the Ice Resin pieces and rub the Gelatos in.

Now you can add some more metallic shine to your wintry scene. Just rub the gold Texture Gems or Texture Luxe onto the stencil areas, reminiscent of a tree skeleton.

I added Glass Bead Glitter Gel to Whipped Spackle and mixed it up. Using a spatula, I spread it around the bottom the art piece for a snowy look. Texture and shine :)

I used more of the Glass Bead Glitter Gel to the "branches" of the trees to look like snow. This will dry clear.

I liked the geometry of the trees so decided another layer would add to the fun. I used the dots stencils with some Texture Luxe in silver and pearl to stencil snowflakes in the sky.

The final touch is some more Texture Gems in Pearl around the trees. I like my patterns in threes!

I hope that you enjoy this project! I like having seasonal artwork around the house for a change of pace.
