Stamper's Big Brush

Word Art for the Grad & the Inspired

FC_May2019_Blog1_Lettering_PITTPensConnectorPaints_Image1_MouS

Hi everyone, Mou here with a word art tutorial today using PITT pens and Connector Paints! As we approach graduation season, we are in a phase of completion of the present and anticipation of the future. It's the perfect time for some motivational words of possibilities, potentials and encouragement. This quote by William Shakespeare is a beautiful expression of all of these feelings.

To create this word art, you'll need the following supplies:

Faber-Castell Stamper's Big Brush Pen - BLACK

Faber-Castell Essential PITT Artist Pen Set - BLACK

Faber-Castell Connector paint box 24 colors + brush

Faber-Castell Collapsible Water cup

Faber-Castell Graphite pencil Goldfaber 1221 HB

Faber-Castell Kneadable Eraser

Watercolor paper (trimmed to 9" x 6")

Now, let me walk you through the steps.

FC_May2019_Blog1_Lettering_PITTPensConnectorPaints_Image1_MouS

Start by sketching out the quote on watercolor paper using pencil as shown.

FC_May2019_Blog1_Lettering_PITTPensConnectorPaints_Image1_MouS

Go over the pencil lines with Stamper's Big Brush pen. I used the smaller PITT brush pen to write the author credit. Erase pencil lines.

Add a touch of color to your word art using Connector Paints.

And that's how quick and easy it is to create word art for your grad or for yourself!

Teacher Appreciation Hand Lettered Sign

Today's project is super simple, yet will make a big impact. All you'll need is the Faber-Castell big brush stamper's set and some marker paper.

Using your choice of colors (I did rainbow. The more colors, the better!), letter away! I had a rough sketch done with a pencil, and placed underneath my paper to make sure I got the spacing/centering right. Watch below for a step-by-step. Then, finish it up by putting it in a frame, or adding some ribbon! Let your teachers know you're grateful for what they do!

April Showers...

Materials Needed:

I always love saying April showers...(do you know what comes next?)

I thought an umbrella silhouette would be fun to make. I also used the big brush pen that comes in the tin to make the raindrops using a similar technique to my previous heart rainbow post.

Start by using the black watercolor pencil to sketch out an umbrella shape. Then use some water and the provided brush to blend the color.

Then, I used the PITT artist pen to add some simple monoline lettering.

Last, I used the side of the big brush pen to make raindrops. If you slightly push the pen tip down at an angle you get the perfect raindrop shape!

Pitt Pen Wreath

Lets make a wreath! Pitt pens make it super simple.

Draw a circle in pencil, lightly erase, then go to town with your favorite colored Pitt pens!

Here we have the big brush pen in leaf green, Pitt brush pens in chromium green opaque,  permanent green olive, and coral, and the size small black fine liner.

Start with the big brush pen. The fun thing about these is that if you just press the side down, it'll look leaf-like, and you don't have to put much work into it. The big brush pens will give you bigger leaves, and if you mix and match, it'll add lots of depth to it!

Letter your favorite quote inside it, and hang it up!

FCDMC_September2018_Halloween_PittPens_1_MouS

This is an image I drew myself. You could draw your own or choose one from this printable collection.

FCDMC_September2018_Halloween_PittPens_1_MouS

Start by coloring the pumpkins with Stampers Big Brush pen Scarlet Red 118.

FCDMC_September2018_Halloween_PittPens_1_MouS

Color the leaves with Crimson 134, Purple Violet 136, Dark Chrome Yellow 109, Green Gold 268, and Pale Geranium Lake 121 as shown.

FCDMC_September2018_Halloween_PittPens_1_MouS

Add a second layer of color to the pumpkins in alternate sections as shown using Orange Glaze 113.

Color as follows -

  • the acorns with Green Gold 268 and Cold Grey IV 233
  • the oval ring border with Magenta 133
  • the witch and cat with Cold Grey IV 233
  • the broom with Raw Umber 180
  • the moon with Light Flesh 132

Of course, these are just my color choices. Feel free to choose your own favorites.

FCDMC_September2018_Halloween_PittPens_1_MouS

Start filling in the letters with Stamper's Big Brush pen Walnut Brown 177, adding variations with Black 199 and Cold Grey IV 233.

FCDMC_September2018_Halloween_PittPens_1_MouS

Now that you have finished coloring the main design, it's time to fill in softer colors to the negative spaces. For that, I am using the Goldfaber Color pencils. I am staying with the same color palette that I chose for my PITT Pens. For a soft look, add the colors with gentle pressure and blend into one another.

FCDMC_September2018_Halloween_PittPens_1_MouS

Finally, color around the entire piece with the Grey 273 Goldfaber color pencil to finish.

I hope you enjoyed our coloring exercise and once you finish, you can display the piece in a frame as seasonal festive decor for your home!
